PlantEd – COST Action CA18111 – Genome editing in plants

PlantEd active in open consultations to EU authorities

Taking advantage of all the expertise within PlantEd, we have responded to some open consultations that are highly relevant for plant genome editing.

EFSA consultation on SDN-1, SDN-2 and ODM

In May-June, the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) had a public consultation on the applicability of the EFSA opinion on site-directed nucleases type 3 (SDN-3) for the safety assessment of plants developed using site-directed nucleases type 1 and 2 (SDN-1 and SDN-2) and oligonucleotide-directed mutagenesis (ODM). A team from PlantEd WG3, led by Prof. Jale Tosun, delivered a response that is available here below. You can read more about the consultation process and the EFSA opinion here.

EU Commission consultation on the European Green Deal / Farm to Fork Strategy

Also in May-June, the European Commission (EC) had a public consultation on the different call areas of the European Green Deal, including the Farm to Fork (F2F) strategy. A PlantEd team, led by Dr. Dennis Eriksson, delivered a response that is available here below. You can read more about the F2F strategy here.
